Scrapbook - Nicaragua/Panama

Starting in August of this year, the international site for volunteers will move from Nicaragua to Panama.  Below are some photos from Don Mueller's recent trip to Panama.  Under that are photos from Bluefields, Nicaragua.

The Parish of St. Pio will established last August and serves a new urban development (photo above).  3000 new homes have already been built.  Another 1000 will be finished before the end of this year.  On of the main tasks of the new volunteers is to do home visitation and a census of this new area.  The older section of the parish has 3000 homes.

Capuchin Father Jozef Timmers celebrates Mass outside someone's home because a new church has not yet been built.  He along with Capuchins Larry Webber and Amado Flores staff the parish.

There is a dynamic youth choir that leads the singing on Sunday mornings at the main parish chapel.

(L-R) Anna, Janet, Kristen, Cristina and Susan share Cap Corps community life in Bluefields this fall.  Anna and Cristina arrived in Nicaragua on September 1, 2005 to begin their 18 months of service there.  They are excited about their new beginning. Janet, Kristen and Susan have been there since September 2003.  They conclude their extended commitment at the end of December 2005.  They love the people; the feeling is mutual.

Capuchin Father Brian Braun gave the fall retreat.  Here the young women are showing him some of their good memories in Bluefields.
