Shelly Roder, a graduate of Creighton University, was a Cap Corps volunteer in 1999-2000 at the House of Peace Community Center and as a research assistant to Michael Crosby, ofmcap. After her Cap Corps year, Shelly worked for several years in the Tenderloin district of San Francisco as a service provider and advocate for people who are homeless before returning to Milwaukee and the position with Cap Corps in 2006. She lives in Sherman Park with her husband, Joe Halaiko and their daughter, Sylvia.
